Puter Parametric: a free, open-source SolidWorks alternative

Parametric 3D part modelling: constrained sketches, features and an editable history tree.

  • Engineering
  • Free · MIT
  • Runs in the browser

From the official README: this app is in early alpha. Features may change and data could be lost — don’t rely on it for real work yet, and keep copies of anything important.

What is Parametric?

Parametric models solid parts the way mechanical engineers expect: draw constrained 2D sketches, turn them into extrudes, revolves, fillets, shells and patterns, and change any dimension to rebuild the part. The OpenCascade kernel runs in WebAssembly. It can open SolidWorks .sldprt and STEP files and has an AI design assistant.

Key features

  • Constrained sketches with Smart Dimension and a live solver
  • Extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, fillet, chamfer, shell and holes
  • Linear and circular patterns, mirroring
  • Opens SolidWorks .sldprt and STEP files
  • AI assistant that builds and edits parts from a description

How to use it

FAQ

Is Parametric free?

Yes. Parametric is part of the Everything Project and its source code is published on GitHub under the MIT license. There is no subscription or trial.

Do I need to install Parametric?

No. Open parametric.puter.com in the browser on your computer, tablet or phone.
